Deprecation: Geolocation on Hubs

What changed:

We removed two location-based options from Event Hubs: 

• "Closest First" sort — which ordered events by proximity to an attendee's location 

• "Distance" filter — which let attendees filter events based on how far away they are 

Why it changed:

Precise location data is increasingly classified as sensitive personal information under privacy laws worldwide. Having these features didn't put you out of compliance — we've never sold or monetized attendee location data. But rather than let that compliance burden grow and land on you, we're getting ahead of it now.

What still works:

Your attendees can still find the right events easily using: 

• Search — by keyword, event name, or topic 

• Filters — by region, audience, category, and more 

• Tags and metadata — so events surface based on what matters most to attendees
