      OAuth for Webhooks

OAuth for Webhooks introduces a modern, secure, and flexible authentication method for connecting external systems to Cvent via Webhooks. This update addresses the increasing demand from technical organizations that require OAuth as a standard for API authentication. With this release, Cvent expands its integration capabilities, allowing more customers to connect their systems securely and efficiently.

      Who Is This Feature For?

      • Customers and partners integrating with Cvent Webhooks

      • Technical teams needing OAuth-based authentication for API integrations

      • Organizations with strict security and compliance requirements

      Key Details

      • OAuth is now available as a connection type for Webhooks, alongside existing options.

      • Users can configure the following required fields:

        • Default Endpoint: The destination for Webhooks payloads

        • Connection Type: OAuth

        • Authorization Endpoint: The OAuth authorization URL

        • Client ID and Client Secret: Credentials for authentication

      • Optional fields include:

        • Scopes: Define permissions or access rights for the integration

        • Additional Fields: Custom fields (e.g., OrganizationID, AccountID) can be included in the API request header as needed

      • This update enables Cvent to support a wider range of integration scenarios and meet the needs of customers with advanced security requirements.

      Limitations

      • Additional fields are always included in the API request's header; this behavior cannot be controlled (e.g., it cannot be moved to the request body).

      What Has Changed?

      • Before: Webhook authentication was limited to token-based authentication (which is less secure than OAuth) and Salesforce OAuth, which only works for specific customers.

      • Now: OAuth is supported, making Cvent Webhooks compatible with more modern, secure, and enterprise-grade integration requirements.

      Reporting

Cross Event Insights: Registration Funnel Enhancement

This update helps event planners and marketers segment and analyze their registration funnel data across multiple events, focusing on key funnel stages like invitations sent, website visitors, registration visitors, registrations, and attendance. It also allows comparison of these segments to the overall event performance within their account.

      • Metrics and percentages will automatically update based on selected criteria, giving a clear view of conversion rates at each stage of the funnel.

      • This feature enables planners and marketers to spot bottlenecks, improve engagement strategies, and increase registration and attendance rates across their event programs by offering more detailed segmentation and real-time insights into how different types of events perform during the registration process.
