Spooky season is upon us and we are bringing you some scary good product updates in October.

Top News: Google & Apple Pay and Embedded Agenda

The product team has 2 big improvements they're working to deliver in this window that we know you’re going to love:

  1. Express Payment Method: Support for Apple Pay and Google Pay in Registration (for events using Cvent Payments only) - Registration has a new Express Payment method option that allows the attendee to checkout and pay using Apple Pay or Google Pay. Express Payments, simplfiying the attendee payment experience.

This form of payment is only available for events using a Cvent Payments (CP) merchant account.

If an event is using a CP merchant account, you will see the new Express Payment method within the Payment widget in the Site Designer. From there, you can the following actions:

    • Turn the Express Payment method on or off for the event.

    • Edit the default label and default instructional text seen on the registration site.

    • Choose the Express Payment options button appearance. Dark mode is selected by default and results in a black button background color for Apple Pay and Google Pay on the registration site. Light mode results in a white button background color with a black outline for the Apple Pay and Google Pay buttons.

    • Display the Apple Pay and/or Google Pay logos for the Express Payment method option. The logos that get displayed will depend on which options are enabled for the CP merchant account selected for the event.

    Things to know:

    • To get started, you will first need to go to Admin -> Integrations -> Merchant accounts to create a Cvent Payments (CP) merchant account and/or edit existing ones to enable Apple Pay and Google Pay. Cvent Payments is currently only available for US-based customers. Please reach out to your Account Manager if you need a Cvent Payments merchant account.

    • For newly created events that have a CP merchant account selected, the Express Payment method in the Payments widget will be on by default, similar to the Credit Card payment method option.

    • The Express Payment method will remain off for events that have already been created and when copied from a previous event or created from a template. In these cases, you will need to manually go into the site designer to enable the new payment method.

    • Service fees based on how the registrant pays can be created for Express Payments, like with any other payment method.

    • When using the Express Payment method, Apple Pay and Google Pay will only work with certain browsers, as listed below.

    • Attendees won’t see a Google Pay button if they don’t have Google Pay set up.

    • Registration Approval, Group Registration, and the Express Payment method cannot all be turned on within the same event.

    • The Express Payments method is not available for post-registration payments or planner-side registration and planner-side modification. It is only available for submitting payments during attendee registration and attendee modification.

    • Checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay cannot be completed during test mode and preview mode for the event.

  2. Embedded Agenda - The Embedded Agenda enhances your event promotion by enabling you to embed agendas directly on your company’s website. While upholding the brand you've defined for your event, embedding reduces friction for potential attendees and increases the likelihood of conversion by making event information easily accessible.

Place your agenda on high-traffic pages to maximize visibility. This approach makes it easier for visitors to discover your event and engage with details without navigating away from where their attention was initially captured.

    Things to know:

    • Tailor the widget to match your site’s design using simple customization options within the site designer.

    • Create, configure, and preview the agenda widgets before embedding them on your site.

    • Protect your event content by restricting widget usage to specific domains, ensuring that your agenda is only displayed on authorized websites.

    • You can only enable one agenda widget to be embeddable at a time. If you want to switch which agenda is in use, you’ll need to disable the current embeddable widget before enabling another.
